While his lovely wife Katie Holmes was preoccupied with her Broadway finale, the “Top Gun” stud opted to take a little parental support in her place.

During the evening’s action, Tom was up for Best Supporting Actor for his hilarious role in the hit movie “Tropic Thunder” - but ended up losing out to Heath Ledger.

As for his plans for after the show, Cruise is flying his wife Katie Holmes out from New York City just in time to accompany him to the many afterparties being had on this grand night.
